| The Asian Aotearoa Arts Hui 2018 I had a great time at the biggest and most ambitious Hui to date. Sitting on the balcony of Te Papa's Icon restaurant, I recall ten years ago, Kelly and I being alone here and watching the fireworks for Te Papa's 10th birthday celebrations in 2008 [my last event here]. I assisted the Hui with Comms strategy and also participated as a guest speakers. Twenty years ago, 1998, I recall submitting an application for funding to Creative NZ for a Chinese Artist Symposium - ultimately unsuccessful then - but really happy that a new crowd of creatives is pushing the envelope! |

| To end the year, we had a picnic at the Botanic gardens. Enjoying some chit chat, delicious food and sketching. |

| Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Urban sketchers network. We participated, and due to the date line round the world, Auckland kicked things off by going first! I helped out as well, by volunteering to be the Instagram Oceania correspondent, and uploading sketches from a dozen cities. And then I could sit back and watch the rest of the world's sketchers as they uploaded their efforts - great fun! |
